View scan analytics and comparisons

Use the Analytics to compare scans over time and analyze trends in your external attack surface. View detailed metrics on findings, asset changes, and risk factors to track remediation progress and make data-driven security decisions.

Get access to the Analytics

Analytics provides scan-to-scan comparison data and insights into how your attack surface changes over time. Use this view to analyze delta metrics, identify trends, and support quarterly reviews and post-incident evaluations.

To complete this task:

1. Sign in to the Veracode Platform.
2. Select Scans and Analysis > EASM.
3. From the top-left corner of the screen, select the project you want to review.
4. Select Analytics or the analytics icon .

Compare scans

The Analytics displays scan-to-scan comparison and delta analysis built from real scan data. Use the comparison feature to track changes between two scans and analyze your security posture over time.

To compare two scans:

1. Open the Analytics.
2. In the Analytics, locate the Scan delta section. By default, the comparison shows the most recent scan in the header against another scan that you select.
3. In the Compare with list, select a different scan date to change the baseline for the comparison.
4. Review the delta metrics across the four sections:
   • Overview delta: shows changes to total things, total findings, and cyber hygiene grade.
   • Priority actions delta: breaks down findings by recommended action: Fix Now, Fix Soon, Monitor, and Track.
   • Things by type delta: lists changes in asset counts grouped by type, such as URLs, applications, certificates, domains, and endpoints.
   • Advanced comparison: to see item-level changes with detailed delta information, select View Advanced Comparison.

Review delta metrics

Each delta metric shows the From value (baseline scan), the To value (current scan), and a change indicator that reflects an increase or a decrease.

Use delta analysis to:

• Identify new risks and newly discovered assets
• Track remediation progress by monitoring declining finding counts
• Assess changes in asset inventory across your external attack surface
• Compare cyber hygiene grade changes over time
• Review priority action redistribution between scans

View advanced comparison details

The Advanced Comparison view provides item-level granularity on what changed between scans, including:

• New assets and findings added since the previous scan
• Assets and findings that were removed or resolved
• Findings that changed status or classification
• A detailed breakdown by asset type and finding category

To view advanced comparison:

1. Open the Analytics.
2. In the Analytics, select View Advanced Comparison in the blue banner above the delta cards.
3. Review the detailed item-level changes for each asset type and finding category.
4. Use the item-level details to understand specific changes and plan targeted remediation efforts.
