Link target to an application

The application linking feature in DAST Essentials lets you manually link analysis run results to an application in the Veracode Platform. You can also link results by using the REST API.

The application linking feature allows you to:

• View results from all scan types in a single report.
• Access reports in the Veracode Platform to see crawled and attacked links.
• Review application policy evaluations in the Veracode Platform.

To link to an application, you need an existing target in the Veracode Platform.

Prerequisites

• You must have a Veracode account with the Administrator, Security Lead, Creator, or Submitter role.

Scan frequency

Veracode recommends that you configure recurring schedules to ensure that the results automatically link to application profiles for future scans.

Link results

You can link the analysis run results from a DAST Essentials target to an application in the Veracode Platform or with the REST API.

By linking the results, you can evaluate them against policy and aggregate the results from multiple scan types, such as Static Analysis and Software Composition Analysis (SCA), in a single report for the same application.

You can link results from only one target to an application. You can’t link results from targets with multiple URLs or API specifications to the same application.

To complete this task:

1. Sign in to the Veracode Platform.
2. Select Scans and Analysis > DAST Essentials.
3. Locate the target for which you want to link results and select the target hyperlink.
4. Select CONFIGURE.
5. In the General tab, select LINK APPLICATION. A list of available applications with related URL configurations appears.
6. Select the application that you want to link to the target and select LINK.
7. To verify that the application is linked successfully, navigate to the General tab. The linked application appears under Linked Application.

Unlink results

You can unlink results when you no longer want them associated with a target or when you want to link them to a different target. You can do this in the Veracode Platform or with the REST API.

After you unlink results from an application profile, future scan results are no longer associated with that application. Results from previous scans remain available, and you can link them to the same or a different application profile.

To complete this task:

1. Sign in to the Veracode Platform.
2. Select Scans and Analysis > DAST Essentials.
3. Locate the target you want to unlink from the application, and select the target hyperlink.
4. Select CONFIGURE.
5. In the General tab, the linked application appears under Linked Application. To remove the link, select UNLINK APPLICATION.
